What’s in Beef Tallow?

Beef tallow is rendered fat from cows (we use grass-fed).
It’s rich in fatty acids:

  • Oleic acid – deeply moisturizing

  • Stearic acid – strengthens skin barrier

  • Palmitic acid – supports softness and protection

  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) – supports calm, balanced skin

These are the same types of fats naturally found in our skin’s natural oils (sebum), which is why beef tallow typically doesn’t clog pores. That means it absorbs well, it doesn’t just sit on top, it supports your skin barrier instead of stripping it, it helps prevent moisture loss, it can calm dry, reactive, or compromised skin

High-quality tallow contains fat-soluble vitamins:

  • Vitamin A – supports skin renewal and smooth texture

  • Vitamin D – supports skin repair

  • Vitamin E – antioxidant support

  • Vitamin K – supports overall skin tone

Because they’re fat-soluble, your skin can actually absorb and use them well.

Can it be used for more than skin? Great question! We have applied to roots and hair and let sit overnight for a silky hair mask. Great for dry weather months.

All our jars are 2 oz jars and made with local tallow from grass fed cows.

Q & A:

Q: Which tallow do you personally use?

A: My girls and I have used the Normal /Acne cream for almost a year. We just started making the Mature Skin blend, so as an adult, I will more than likely jump back and forth between! I enjoy using the Normal cream after being in the sun and the Mature blend at night.

Q: When’s the best time to use tallow?

A: We enjoy using after we wash our face at night. When our skin is dry, we use throughout the day, too.

Q: Can you use the tallow on skin other than your face?

A: Yes! We use on dry heels, legs, shoulders, chest, neck, and especially after being in the sun.

Q: How much do I use?

A: A little bit goes a long long way. Start with a pea size amount and go from there.

Q: Is it greasy?

A: Once applied it feels a little greasy, but give it a few minutes and your skin will absorb the tallow leaving a silky feel!

Q: Where is the tallow made?

A: Our tallow is sourced and rendered locally, grass fed beef. Our creams are made in our kitchen (a mother - daughter project).

Q: What makes this cream speical?

A: Not only is the tallow sourced from grass fed beef, but the arrowroot powder is organic alongside ethically sourced, theraputic grade essential oils. To us, quality matters! We don’t like toxic skin care products in our home.

Q: Will Selah’s Tallow have tallow products?

A: Perhaps! Keep checking back :).

A: Please allow 7-10 business days for shipping. Pick up is local Columbia City ONLY at the times given at check out (8:15 AM and 2:30PM).

Q: When the tallow goes OOS, how quickly will the stock replenish?

A: Give us about a week to a week in a half! We know you could be buying tallow elsewhere, so we try to stay on top of it. Thank you for supporting Selah’s Tallow!
