WEEK 4: RECONNECT

“Disconnect with the world, reconnect with your self.”


A friend posted this on FB the other day and I thought, “HOW PERFECT for week 4"!!!!!!!

WHY RECONNECT?

Your stuck is a negative cycle of behaviors, thoughts, and reactions that aren’t serving you in positive or progressive ways. The stuck is needing reconnected with truth, because the truth always wins. The truth brings a divine force of energy that begins to blast away the sticky stuckness rooted deep in your patterns. Until we examine the stuck, we don’t even realize how the negative yuck has been affecting our stress reactions.

And your body isn’t wrong for wanting to protect you. In that time of pain, your nervous system did its job protecting you. It did this by creating a stress response / reaction in hope that some sort of false safety was felt in return. In that moment, it served you. In this moment, it doesn’t. Despite the wound, you’ve continued to grow but the nervous system seems to still think you need protecting. Breaking patterns that once created safety, or protected you in some way, is necessary for growth…yet it’s so difficult.

This e course has brought the stuck out, named it, defined it, examined it, and captured the thoughts created by it.  You’ve covered your stuck in rest and compassion. It’s been called out and known. It can’t hide any more. It doesn’t get to do that!! It doesn’t get to hide away inside you causing emotional, mental, and physical pain! By knowing more about the stuck & why it’s there, the more authority you have over it.

THIS IS THE GROUNDWORK TO CREATING A NEW NEURAL PATHWAY (remember that term?). How can you build something new without first a blueprint? Week 1-3 is your blue print & has helped you understand WHY creating a new way of feeling, thinking, understanding, learning, growing, resting, and be-ing are all so important! It’s the healing balm to your nervous system whispering, “Hey, thanks for protecting me when I couldn’t…but we are safe now & it’s time to shift.” And that’s the thing, friend, your nervous system has done its job. Going into a stressed state or fight or flight is how your body protects you but at some point the body screams out in protest and that’s when you know there’s healing that needs to take place whether that’s in regards to trapped negative emotions, thoughts, or a need to rest & reconnect with God + your authentic self.

Reconnect is all about truth. It’s like you’re taking a bath to wash away all the grime the wound has caused over the years. Reconnect is the new, the fresh, the forward movement. It’s experiencing love and compassion from your SELF. It’s confidence. It’s accepting your identity and truth from your Creator. It’s an inner knowing that your taking off a hypothetical robe and replacing it with bright beautiful new one. It’s throwing off what’s hindering you claiming understanding and freedom over your whole self. It’s a place where you find YOU again…and it feels so dang good.

Scripture where Jesus practiced rest/solitude to reconnect:

  • Matthew 14:23 and in Mark 6:46 (I actually have this verse in hebrew as a tattoo. It’s so meaningful to me that Jesus, in sandals, climbed up a mountain side (which was a rocky and dry dirt) to rest from the doing and just BE with his father. He knew he needed to connect with truth because the demands and feels were so big.)

  • Luke 5:15 (My mind cannot wrap around the part in this verse where it tells us Jesus went off alone as often as possible to reconnect with God and rest in him.)

  • Mark 1:35 (Here we see, again, Jesus slipping away to reconnect and rest after a draining day & before the new day began.)


REMINDERS & HOLISTIC TIPS!

With moving out of two weeks of rest, try to continue scheduling in those refreshment dates! I say some encouraging things about this in audio 1. Just know that if you’re struggling with those dates, and you’re a “to do list” person, ADD REST TO YOUR TO DO LIST! Remember, rest isn’t a luxury but a necessity for true release & reconnection.

My most favorite essential oil blend to help me reconnect myself is Inner Child. It’s so fresh, floral, fruity, and fun. I apply to my ear lobes because that area holds many reflexology points related to childhood.

Set reminders in your phone or in your calendar to continue this work. Checking in with yourself often is key. Be a good friend to yourself. :-)

TIPS TO KNOW WHEN IT COMES TO RECONNECT:

  • None of what we are doing here is about perfection. All of the tools, advice, and wisdom offered to you in this e-course is to help you find a new healthier way to move through the suckiness of hard and the stickiness of stuck. Finding balance to the imbalances in your life isn’t about changing your external world. This e-course aligns with what is IN your control, which is your internal world. Your emotions. Your mind. Your spirit. Your body. Reconnection with each of those parts of you is a part of your wholeness.

  • Know it’s natural for life to cause emotions to bubble up! That’s totally normal. Life will make you think things you don’t wanna think & exhaust you, too. On this side of heaven, I don’t believe there is an antidote to fixing our external world. However, you have been given the authority to claim wholeness over your internal world & who you are!

  • Part of reconnect is NORMALIZING emotions. It’s okay to feel. FEELING isn’t wrong, but the negative behaviors/thought patterns that follow definitely can be. This e-course is meant to encourage you to hold space in one hand for how the yuck affects you, to have awareness & compassion towards how it is affecting your thoughts/emotions, and self soothe by honoring the rawness of it all. Give normalcy to feeling the things. The yuck and the truth can and will both exist at the same time.

  • Creating a new neural pathway takes time. Months. Years! Keep doing what you’ve learned during our time together. Reconnecting your self during/after tense situations will look clunky. But you’ll get better at it. And even when you begin to do it well, you will still feel emotions! Continue moving towards the truth. Keep doing the work. And when it feels like you are going backwards, remember, you’re simply being brought back to the negative pattern because it’s your body’s way of saying, “hey, there’s more here that you need to examine, release, rest with, and shift.” You aren’t moving backwards, just deeper. Remember that.

  • Healing isn’t about getting 100% rid of the yuck, or changing your external world, but instead learning how to move through it all in healthier ways while staying authentic to who you are, what you’re experiencing, and what you are needing.
